My client had a kidney transplant a year before. His adult son was a match. This invitation was to celebrate the successful kidney transplant one year later for the anniversary. I went to the first idea I thought of, which was kidney beans. I drew caricatures of Father and Son as kidney beans. The label I designed had to be on a can. I photographed the can. The party was held at a house on Somerset Drive. I lucked out completely because I actually found an old can label from the real Somerset Canning Company. I vectored the deer and made a colorful strip to wrap around the invitation to keep the pages together. On the back of the invitation I found beautiful old kidney bean labels from the Butterfly Brand. Since this party was a celebration of life, I wanted the invite to be very colorful, including the ribbon.
