Project description

In design school I came up with Lotus Magazine, a Vietnamese-American Magazine. This is a spread I designed with photographs of myself and my parents. The article is about growing up with two different cultures. My Mother is Vietnamese and my Father, Caucasian American from New York. I contrasted my Mother's photograph in black and white with my Father's color photo. I placed torn edges on my Mother's photo. I shoved the quotes against the images and decreased the leading in the type. I added staples and tape between my photograph and my Mother's photograph above the quote, "I didn't feel like I fit in the Vietnamese Community, not only did I look different, I alienated myself from understanding the culture."
